Concept

Circulating Seeds is an interactive installation that records viewers’ ephemeral behaviors — approach, presence, voice, shadow, and movement — as anonymous “seeds” that identify no individual, transforming them into a 3D seed mandala, a ledger, and seed cards with QR codes.

When a viewer stands before the sensors, moves, speaks, or casts a shadow, the changes in the space generate a Seed. Each Seed glows on the mandala and is recorded in the ledger, and when the viewer leaves, a “seed card” is issued from a thermal printer. The QR code on the card gives access to the record of the seed born from the viewer’s own actions, and on a return visit the seed can be brought back into the work.

The work is an attempt to preserve small acts of involvement and chance overlaps — which would normally vanish unrecorded — not as ratings or rankings, but as “seeds” that may take on meaning in the future.
