Scientist / Artist / Open Source Developer based in Yokohama. MSc in Physics. Starting from physical phenomena, data, and the traces of human action, I create work using mathematical optimization, AI, blockchain, and open source software.
As a corporate researcher, I work on R&D problems where materials, processes, and physical phenomena are intricately linked, developing technologies that combine CAE simulation, mathematical optimization, electromagnetic and optical analysis, and experimental evaluation. I carry the attitude this work demands — modeling invisible structures and searching for form within constraints — into my practice as a contemporary artist.
In my practice, I am interested in cycles in which actions remain as data and records, and those traces in turn give rise to new actions and relationships. I treat science and technology not only as tools for efficiency and control, but as media for perceiving the complexity of the world anew, and through open data, sensing, and decentralized technologies, I attempt to reconfigure the relationships between people, environment, and information.
